Fred Buckman has a diverse background in the electric utility, mining and energy sectors. His experience is in the areas of corporate finance, business development and operations and maintenance.
Prior to co-founding Powerlink, Buckman was an associate principal at Partners in Performance. In this role, he brought about improvements in operations and maintenance at mining operations in Alaska and in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada.
Buckman was a principal and co-founder of N4 Development, a company involved in the siting and development of electric generation projects. He was Vice President of Energy Systems at Pacific West Energy where he was involved in the development of a biomass-fueled ethanol and power plant on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
Buckman began his career at Southern Company where he managed a 4,000 MWe portfolio of natural gas-fired generation. He also managed operations and maintenance at a 1,100 MWe coal-fired power plant and supported the optimization of emissions control operations within Southern Company’s 22,000 MWe fleet of coal-fired generation.
Buckman holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a Master’s of Science from the University of Michigan.
